The Reed Tennis Machine did unpleasantly surprise league leaders and rivals Walt Clark yesterday at Mountain View High School. We played hot and cool under slightly rainy skies.
If girls do cry more easily, for both sorrow and joy, we added to that possibility yesterday, when our girls dominated the day, winning 6 of 7 matches. Congrats to Sofia Ozambala and Ivy Ryan for their Varsity Doubles No. 2 win and Isamaya Hagstrom and Madison Sheets Varsity 3 win.
You have to hand it to the duet, Alissa Hinojsa and Katya Hernblom, they remain undefeated, and won the varsity 4 match 6 games to none, giving these boisterous girls some bragging rights.
Emma Maggie-Byers and Nicole Standiford racked up a 6-2 win. And 6th graders Crystal Gonzalez and Sammi Hammond kept smiling and perservered to win 6 games to 4.
Reed girls also made a couple guys cry - girls can do that to you ya know - as Tennyson Norton, Morgan Coulter and Vanessa Romero played against Walt Clark boys and won decisively, 6 games to 1, offering cheery handshakes for condolences.
But Reed Boys Tennis was not to be outdone yesterday. Our guys were kinda the mountain men of Tennis yesterday. Samuel Zimmerman and Jack Kisch took varsity game no 4. Imanol Mercado and Chance Lemus teamed up to win varsity 3. and Fernando Corona and Salvador Mercado regained their top of the hill status, beating the Walt Clark no. 1 varsity team, 6 games to 5. Way to go guys.
The days final tally was Reed Tennis 9 matches to Walt Clark 2, making Reed the regular season winners and leaders. Brightest of all was the Reed Team's positive enthusiasm, we think filling their coaches and parents with a lot of Reed Pride.
Thank you,
Mr. Hagstrom and Mrs. Kinnard
