Dear Students and Families,

We are pleased to be offering tennis at BRMS this spring. This new program is being set-up, and details finalized even as practice begins on Thursday, March 17, 2011. Following are the initial details of the program, however please keep in mind that they are subject to change as information and resources become available.

Required to participate in the program:

1. Students sign-up intent to play by Monday, March 21.
2. Students who already have participated in sport this school year will need only to sign-up, then by March 24, read and complete this Tennis Program Information & Requirements sheet, and the Walking Field Trip Permission Slip.
3. Students who have not participated on a sports team this school year will need to complete the school’s Packet for Athletic Participation.
4. Pay the $50 Athletic Fee (except for free lunch students) in a check payable to Bill Reed Middle School.
5. Current physicals (valid for this school year) are required before a student may practice or play.
6. Walking permission slips are required to play at the 13th Street Courts

Information on the Schedule: this is under re-construction since some middle schools are not able to form a team in such a short span of time, thus affecting the game schedule.
We are also looking into arranging more practice time on local courts.

1. Practices are Mon., Tues., Thur., and Fri. (not Wed.) from 3:00 – 4:30.
Pick-up students, & talks with coach, between 4:30 – 4:45 please.

Currently all practices are at Reed on the Plaza using two portable nets & the cafeteria wall. We are also aiming for a once week practice at nearby (jogging distance) 13th St. courts as well as four Friday late afternoon practices at local high schools.

2. Students must be able to commit to 3 practices weekly.

3. Games will be alternately at Loveland, Thompson, and Mountain View high schools, primarily on Thursdays.

4. Families will need to provide transportation to off-campus matches and practices, (except for when we jog to the nearby 13th St. courts), the Tennis Camp on Saturday, April 9 and the final Tournament on Saturday, May 14.

5. Practices begin March 17 and the game season is from April 7 – May 14. The first game is a scrimmage at Thompson Valley H.S., April 7.
